With WP Rocket we have been comining both CSS and JS files. However a web devleoper told us that because we are running http/2 it is sometimes better not to do this as there won’t necessarily be performance gains and can even be counterproductive.

    What’s your advise?

    Hello,

We also agree that HTTP2 should do the job and improve the performance without combining all files. But as our experience shows, Google Page Speed usually grades with a lower score if you don’t combine CSS files into one and we don’t know why.

    Kind Regards

Yes it’s a tricky one – whether to ignore Google and do the logical thing or try and please Google. I’m not sure.

In our project, we still prefer combining them. Anyway, it will not be slower with this option turned off.
