Configure related products

Hi Woodmart-Team

On my Product-Single page i’ve set up a product grid that has a query for «related products»
As i understand this draws all products that share the same category or tag.

How can i restrict this to just use the tag?

The Related Products is basically a WooCommerce end feature that comes from their side and the Theme doesn’t influence its functionality.

According to WooCommerce, Related Products is a section on some templates that pulls products from your store that share the same tags or categories as the current product.

These products cannot be specified in the admin, but can be influenced by grouping similar products in the same category or by using the same tags.

Although, if you are using the Theme’s Layout Builder to create Custom Layout for the Single Product page and in that you are using the Products (grid or carousel) theme element > then in that you can specifically select Categories or tags for the Products appearing and can also Exclude some if you want: https://snipboard.io/HzxurZ.jpg

Not really. There’s no use for me in setting up static criterias for products to display.
I’ve got like a series of products belonging together and if one is shown on the single product page i need to display the others on the bottom of the page as recommended products.

I guess i can group the products with “upsells” or “cross-sells” to work that way but that needs a lot more setup.
ideally i would need a query like “show products with same tag”.
Related products is close to this but useless to me if i can’t omit the category part of it.

Sorry to say but unfortunately like we mentioned under the Theme for the Related Products in the Custom Layout, you can only select specific Categories or Tags along with Excluding any Product if you want with the Products (grid or carousel) Theme element: https://snipboard.io/hXK0ng.jpg

The Related Products working isn’t influenced by the Theme, it works by default at WooCommerce end.

Yes that’s true but you might consider implementing such functionality to your theme elements as it would be useful to build shops.

Other Theme’s handle this pretty well. Check out IMPREZA’s grid-element for example which will let you set very flexible criterias for what it should display.
