Create custom text attribute

How do I create a customizable attribute? Basically I want to create an attribute called “Specification” and I dont want to create any selectable terms on it to choose from, I just want to have a field on product page where I can add a custom text value for “Specifcation” attribute. thanks!

In the above link, please skip to Swatches in the text format heading to get an idea about it.

Further, Attributes as you know are created under the Dashboard > Products > Attributes > so you can navigate to that, to create a new Custom Attribute and its custom values.

But I dont want to create attribute values, I want to write the attribute value right into the product page without selecting previously created values, just a temporary value only valid for a specific product

Sorry to say but you can’t add Custom Attribute value to an already created Attribute directly on the Product edit area but you can add Custom Attribute directly on the Product through using the Custom product attribute option under the Attributes adding area of Product edit.
