Disable Mobile Search Icon

Hi,
Our store has over 5000 products in it.
If someone click on the search icon on a mobile device without first entering a search term the site attempts to search every products, page and post and then freezes.
Can we ether disable to search icon on mobile or have it only work once a search term has been entered?

Choose the proper header type (your current) http://prntscr.com/iyd333
Switch the mobile view of your header http://prntscr.com/iyd3v3 disable the search icon in the mobile menu

Thats very much for your quick response
Unfortunately, since the search icon and search bar are part of the mobile menu and not a separate element i am unable to discover how to disable the search icon.
I still want the search bar to function. I want to make sure the customers don’t click on the icon before entering a search term. If you know of a different way to accomplish this without disabling the search icon i am open to suggestions.
