I don’t want to translate, I just want to change the text
Hello,
Loco translate actually changes the text. You can install the plugin change the text and deinstall the plugin and your texts would remain as you changed and would not reset after theme update.
We suggest you to keep translated files in wp-content/languages/themes/basel-pt_PT.po folder.
