Regarding the woodmart.zip upload, you normally don’t need to upload the ZIP directly to the WordPress server. If you’re getting an error while uploading it through Appearance > Themes > Add New > Upload Theme, please send me a screenshot of the error, and I’ll guide you through the correct installation method.

Yes, woodmart.zip is the main theme package, and you can install it directly through Appearance > Themes > Add New > Upload Theme.
The WoodMart child theme is optional and is mainly recommended if you plan to make customizations to the theme files, as it helps preserve your custom changes when the parent theme is updated.
So, if you have successfully uploaded and activated woodmart.zip, there is no issue with using the theme without the child theme.
If you plan to add custom PHP/template modifications, I recommend installing and activating a child theme as well.
