New Layout options – Cart and Checkout Layout page query, confusion and issue

Hello Luke,

I am having few queries and issues related to the same. Can you please answer each query pointwise and help resolve my concerns with details-

PS: we are checking this on Staging site (with version 6.3) Credentials under private area

1. When I create “Cart” layout using New layout section, then I could not find any option to assign it.

2. I then realized, that it automatically applies as a current Cart page created from that Layout section, instead of the default Cart page. Can I ask, why so.

3. After creating the Cart page using Layouts section, should not we be allowed to assign the Cart Layout page (that we create using Layout section) from under Woo > Advance tab > Cart area, as shown below-

In order to maintain uniformity and avoid confusion

4. I could not even found the option to Disable that New Cart Layout page.
The only way I could do is to put that Cart Layout page mode to DRAFT. Thereafter only, default Cart page gets activated again.
I don’t think this is the right approach.
Disabling Cart layout page (from layouts) to Enable default Cart page sounds bit awkward. That too when both are placed at different locations.

5. Also, what if someone creates more than One Cart Layout page (using layout section).
Which one will take precedence and for what reasons. How

In either case, should not point 3 be Valid in this scenario or case (point 5) also.
Means, the one that will be assigned from Woo > Advanced, shall takes the precedence and gets activated.

1, 2. The fact is that you can only have one cart page, therefore it is activated automatically.

3, 4, In this case, we will add this to our feature requests list and consider adding it in our future updates.

5. If you have several layout pages, the last created layout page will be activated.

Thank you for your quick response.

1,2. I understand. But there must be some way to activate only one of the Cart page, and to know which one is activated or Live. Otherwise, one has to keep looking back-and-forth at different places to find which one is actually Live and working.
I hope this makes sense.

3. Also, there is No creation date for Cart on Layout section. It’s just the “Date” column with Last modified time.
Point is, what if someone creates cart A first, then create the B cart Layout. Then modifies the cart A (previous one) layout. In this case, which one will take the precedence.

4. Just wanted to make sure, is this the only way to Disable that New Cart Layout page, by putting back it in Draft mode or Delete it.
Or there is some other way.

Smart Coupons on Cart page (please check staging site) –
6. I created 2 coupons, named – gctmtjag and bxgyfree
Both are set to visible on Cart and other pages. However only one of them is showing on Cart, Checkout pages, which is bxgyfree
This one is Not displaying up – gctmtjag

Both are almost identical and have No limit and No Expiry date. And with No such display related conditions.
Can you please try to replicate at your end. And suggest what I am missing, or what is wrong.

PS: I tried to Delete as well as Edit the Coupon named bxgyfree in a way to have it hidden for products that are in Cart. (Just for testing purpose, so other one can be visible)
Still I found that the Coupon gctmtjag did not showed up.
Even if it is the Only available Coupon.

In either case, I found only this Coupon shows up on Cart and other pages, no matter whatever I try – bxgyfree

4. Yep, you are right. For now, there are only 2 ways to disable the custom layout, it is by putting back it in Draft mode or Deleting it.

6. In general this functionality comes from WooCommerce so our theme cannot influent it, but I have checked it on your side and both of them work well.

6. I understand, the coupons are working and applying. But the only point is that Only one such coupon is displaying up on the Cart and Checkout page. Could it be due to some sort of restriction of theme or some other reason.

7. There seems one issue related to New Layouts section. Here is how to replicate-
I created a New Cart page (using the Layouts section), that gets activated (currently I have set it back to Draft mode. You can Publish it again and check accordingly).

But I realized that the Coupons (from Smart Coupons) are then Not showing up at all on that Cart page (created using Layouts).

Atleast the coupon named bxgyfree should show up, just like it is showing up while using the Default Cart page.

PS: The coupon bxgyfree (from Smart Coupons) is displaying up If I use the default Cart page (means when I switch back to default one).

It seems the Layout section is missing (or not using) the few of the default hooks (on for Cart, checkout pages), like the one for Coupons.

There is No way to show the coupons, due to lack of use of basic or default hooks (for Cart, checkout) in the pages created using the Layouts section.

Can you please check with the Dev team and help resolve this issue. Probably with the Patcher.

6. Yes, before receiving your response I found that, other available or Active Coupons started showing on the Cart and Checkout pages.

Hence, waiting for your response. As I thought that you might have actually fixed it on our staging site or probably it automatically got fixed (as I actually deactivated this plugin and re-activated back, and it started showing coupons) Not sure, when and how.
Just curious to know, have you fixed that temporary on staging site or with some setting. Or do you have any idea about that.

7. Regarding this point. I think you misunderstood my point, a bit or I was not able to explain correctly. Let me try to explain again.

Point is that, the Coupons are showing up on the Cart page (created using Layouts), only if I use the Shortocode by the Smart Coupon Plugin. I have already set the shortcode on the New Cart page (xewated using layouts), earlier.

If we remove that shortcode, the coupons do not displays up. You can try that on the Cart page of the staging site.

Shortcode purpose and Reason:
Shortcodes are meant to use to show up the Coupons on other Pages of site, widgets and other areas

But in the Cart and Checkout pages, those should display up automatically, if the hooks are being used up properly on these pages. Just like the default Cart page (created without Layouts section) which is showing up Coupons without using the shortcodes

It seems the Layout section is missing (or not using) few of the default hooks (on for Cart, checkout pages), like the one for Coupons.

Can you please check again (Please read the 7th point in above post response, in case)

PS: Basic or default Hooks shall be provided on the custom Layout pages also either by default or as Elements (WPBakery), or some other way. We found that other themes have such functionality or options.

However, it seems, in the “Cart Table” element the coupons hook might Not have been included, by the team. And probably is missing.
As the Cart Table element is already added in the Cart’s Layout page (from one of the presets), and coupons should show up. But unfortunately, they are not showing up.

7a. This means that this default hook from WooCommerce is not related to the output of the plugin coupons.

b. The “woocommerce_cart_coupon” hook is included in the “Cart table” element.

There we can see that the “woocommerce_cart_coupon” hook is responsible for showing the “Coupon” field, therefore, if the coupons from the plugin appeared through the hook “woocommerce_after_cart_table” it means that they are so configured to be displayed through the plugin. Unfortunately, I don’t know how it’s configured in the “Smart coupons” plugins so I sent you the default hook from WooCommerce.

7.. a) Yes. I still wonder, why this is happening. As Smart Coupons is very well known and a plugin on official Woo store.
Not sure, how it is displaying coupons that way. I found that, they are using everything else properly and follows the basic standards and hooks, on other locations of backend, as well as frontend.

c). Yes, I have already gone through that earlier. Still, much thanks for sharing additional info.

Few Major Issues with Layouts on Single product page–

8. I tried creating Single product page using the New Layouts section on just one product, in order to test things first and compare with existing default layout.

PS: One page is prior to creating the Layouts of Single product page for this same product. And the 2nd one, is after creating the Layouts on the same product.

8. a) We used a 47:53 ratio (image is-to-short description ratio) earlier using the custom CSS shared by you earlier. However, now it switches back to 50:50 ratio (I assume) How can we make the same ratio again? Can you please share updated CSS for it to work.

b) Woo Breadcrumbs Not showing correctly on SPP (single product page) created using Layouts (Please refer video). How can we resolve this.

c). We have made the Title Hidden in Breadcrumbs using Custom CSS (shared by you earlier). However, this seems Not working in the SPP created using Layouts. Can you please share the updated code, to work here.

d). Product navigations (prev-next arrows) on SPP showing at the extreme right side (in same line of breadcrumbs) in Default SPP.
However with New Layouts on SPP, it is shifted downwards below Breadcrumbs. How to show similarly at right side and in same line of breadcrumbs, the way it is showing in Default SPP (please refer video or our LIVE site – https://www.vasangini.com)

e). Title of the product was showing upto the right edge on Product page with Default SPP. However, it breaks and is now shifted to 2nd line (on SPP created using Layouts), very early.

Earlier it shows till (on default SPP)- Red Elephant Tapestry Peacock Mandala Tapestries Queen
Now (on SPP with Layouts) showing till here only – Red Elephant Tapestry Peacock Mandala..
Even though we removed the Brands elements on that same SPP.

f). We showed HTML block Above Add to Cart button on SPP,. Can be seen on all other product pages . That includes text from – Eligible for Qty Discounts. — to — Pop-up Contact form button named – Have quesions – Ask Us.
Unfortunately, even this is also not displaying up now on SPP (created using Layouts)
How to enable it the same way

g). For product tabs also, ALL existing custom CSS goes away or not working (probably due to layout related or something else). We will ask about that later-on, once the above ones gets resolved.

8. Sorry, but on the product layout page is no proper way to change the ratio for the columns even by using custom CSS because it can disrupt the proper work of the builder.

8d. In the last update, it should work well.

Bit Urgent: (for Live site)

9. There seems one another bug after updating theme to 6.5 version. On both the Live site v6.5.2 as well as Staging 6.5.0

I had earlier created the Theme Preset for 3 of pages and removed BG image and color (so as to be removed by default Globally) while running theme on 6.2.6v. Then I set just the BG color for these pages individually, while editing them in same theme version. As shown here-

However, the same was working upto 6.2.6 and 6.4x versions, but unfortunately not working anymore from 6.5 and further versions.
Can you please check and resolve.

For previous ones-
8. Can that ratio (47:52 or 45:55), be achieved using Elementor (if not WPBakery) somehow or other, if we create SPP using Layouts section.

Sorry for the bug, in the new 386491 patch it was fixed, so please navigate to WoodMart -> Patcher and apply changes.

8. Unfortunately, there is no way to change the ratio of the columns in the product layout, because such changes can affect your whole website.

The thing is that you need to define any of these fields for replacing the default image.

9b. Sorry, I cannot tell you exactly but the issue that is fixed in this patch came due to the special settings that were enabled in the customer theme. Most likely, you will not see such concerns in your theme that were fixed in this patch.

Regarding my concern, I think you misunderstood my query a bit. Can you please read above query again with those previous screenshots.
Also, let me try to explain again-
1. Point is that, first of all, we Deliberately Removed BG image and BG color just for these 3 pages via our own Custom Theme Preset.
And then we set the BG color alone (not BG image), for these 3 pages separately (while editing them individually). So that No BG image shall be visible, only the BG color shall be shown.
PS: I need to set different BG colors for each pages separately (that is why unchecked the Inherit field for Page Title Background (under Colors and Backgrounds) via our own Custom theme preset)

Also, I asked to check FAQ and About Us page only, and not the Contact Us page (for which we had already Disabled The Page Title completely, earlier.)

Now coming back to FAQ and About Us page.
For FAQ page, we have set this below BG color and luckily it is Now correctly reflecting (probably after applying the patch) on FAQ page at frontend.

However, it is not working for About Us page.
For About Us page, the BG color is Not reflecting at frontend. Rather than that, the BG image is showing up (that is still there in Default Theme settings, that came with demo).

In this case, is this a bug, that it requires to Re-Save Theme settings. I am asking this because, Page Title settings for FAQ page started working correctly earlier after applying that New patch. However, About Us still had issues until you Re-saved Theme Settings.
We found that we had to click Re-Save earlier also (for past issues) couple or more times. In order to resolve few similar sort of previous issues.
Shall not the settings be Saved, with Just One-Click and with very 1st Saving. Can you please ask the team to resolve this.

10. A kind request on very basic yet noticeable thing-
If you could ask the team to ADD this very small option while Editing any Page. Under Page Title options, as shown in below image-

I meant by buttons for Inherit and Remove from Inherit options
PS: Remove from Inherit option button, shall allow to remove the existing BG color or Image (that already exists within Default theme settings).
So that if someone do Not requires any BG color or BG image, this New option button (Remove from Inherit) will work.

That way, it would avoid extra steps and unnecessary settings by going back-and-forth, here and there, specially just for this basic task.
That is, by first creating custom Preset, then removing BG color and image (when someone actually want to have the BG image by default within default Theme settings also and need to override for few specific pages alone)
And then Re-setting the BG color or image for individual pages separately.

Reasons and Drawback with current situation or scenario –
This is really cumbersome and time consuming
This requires additional steps or tasks alongwith creating Extra and unnecessary custom Theme Presets
Also, one can forget which custom Preset is for which purpose.
Also, if the option to Add (Upload) the BG image of Page Title is available, should Not the option button to Remove the existing or Inherited BG image or color be there.

Would highly appreciate your kind understanding in the matter. If you and team could understand and take this for consideration.

After resaving Theme Settings, the page title of the “About Us” page appears well.

I think it is still Not resolved completely and there is still some bug or issue.

While after updating theme on Live site to version 6.5.4 (auto-includes the patch), I found that the BG color of Page Title is still Not working as intended (and as we discussed above)

So I tried to replicate the issue, first on Staging site. And this is how you can test-

If we add some (any) BG color (no matter what color) under the same custom Theme preset (ID 109), then, if we further Add any other BG color on Individual page (in page Edit mode) separately, then ONLY it will work and reflect the BG color correctly for that page (About Us and FAQ)

Otherwise, it will still show the BG image, which is Not set anywhere. (neither in custom Preset, nor in each respective individual Page Edit mode)

Please refer below screenshot for better understanding-

To summarize, please first check FAQ and About Us page on Staging site, they are correctly working, as of now.
Now, try to Remove (clear) the BG color (currently Red), in that same custom Theme preset (as per above screenshot). Then Save option, and Save theme settings.
Then check those same FAQ and About Us pages (after refreshing them), and you will find that the BG color will Not reflect correctly, which we have already set on each individual page (FAQ and About Us) separately.

Say, this is the BG color we had set for FAQ page, and it should show correctly.

PS: Settings and options that are Set on Individual page have higher preference in respect to what are set in Theme settings or Custom Presets.
And this is how they were working earlier. And this is how they should work too logically.
But with last couple of updates, it is Not working as intended.

I have checked these settings of the pages and seems that it has a bigger priority than presets because the bg color comes from the settings of the page.

I am bit disappointed this time. I think you might have Not read my previous response properly. (or probably, in a hurry)
Yes, I understand that the Individual Page settings have higher priority than similar setting in Option Presets. That is why, I am saying all this.

I think, The bug or glitch is still there.

In a nutshell, Point is (for staging site)-
If we remove (clear) the BG color (which is currently Red), in that same custom Option preset (as per below screenshot). Then click Save options, and then Save theme settings.

Then check those same FAQ and About Us pages (after refreshing them), and you will find that the BG color will Not reflect correctly, which we have already set on each individual page (FAQ and About Us) separately.
The BG color should reflect, as per, what is set in Individual page Edit settings.

Now, if still requires, I would like to request you to please read my previous response again. You will now understand it much better.
There, I have mentioned step-by-step, in detail. Also the 2nd screenshot has got details too.

Why I think, this is a bug or glitch–
My point is – The BG color should still reflect, like the way, it is correctly reflecting, currently. That is, as per, what is set in Individual page Edit settings. Even when, the BG color is Not set in Option Presets

I understand.
But, in the meantime, please release a Patch to fix this issue (atleast temporary).
I do Not prefer to use the BG color in Option Presets, and by No means. As this always creates confusion. And then, the purpose of creating custom Option preset, is actually getting defeated.

I want to make BG color of Title – EMPTY (cleared) inside custom Option Preset, and only want to set the BG color for each page separately (as per the Conditions set in that relevant custom Options preset)

I hope you can understand

PS: No issues, I can wait, until the Patch is released. And I will set some BG color in custom Option presets, until then.
But please release the Patch, or fix this issue.
