    Dear Team,

I am using a custom 404-page imported through the provided woodmart templates, the page is setup using the woodmart settings.

I also use rankmath but never get 404 log. Contacted rankmath and they confirmed the problem is due to this custom 404 page.

Below is what they responded (after a lot of to-and-fro)

We had a closer look at the 404 page on your website and we noticed two issues:
    1. 404 URLs are redirected to the 404 page instead of returning a 404 status on the same URL.
    2. The 404 page itself is returning a 200 (OK) status instead of a 404 status. Here's a screenshot for a quick reference: https://i.rankmath.com/okodk6

We use the is_404 condition of WordPress to detect the 404 page. If this condition returns false on a custom 404 page then the page will not get logged in the 404 Monitor.

Below is how my 404 setting looks like:

What do I do to get 404 logs of the site? 404 page link: https://durvient.com/page-404/

    Hello,

We have tested locally the issue and we do not see the problem on our end. Most likely some of your plugins makes the redirect.

Please deactivate all the plugins except these ones:

    Slider Revolution
    WPBakery Page Builder or Elementor
    Woodmart Core
    Contact Form 7
    MailChimp for WordPress
    WooCommerce
    Safe SVG

If the problem has gone, activate the plugins one by one, checking the issue to detect which one causes the problem.

    Best Regards

Hi Elise, I have already tried that multiple times while working on this with rankmath. After failing, rankmath recommended to raise this with you guys.

Elise, I re-read your message and realized that you didn’t understand my problem.

The problem is not plugin related but custom 404 page which is negating 404 status thus not letting 404 logs build up.

    Hello,

Please confirm the permission for plugin deactivation, switching to the parent theme. As soon as we complete the testing we will enable all back, however, the site would be without plugins for 15-20 min. You would better make the full backup of your site.

    Best Regards

Hi Elise, please proceed with the plugin deactivation and testings. You have full rights on the login I had shared.

I have taken a backup of the site just now. We won’t have website traffic from now until next 7-8 hours.

Hi Elise, you are looking at 404 page and I am talking about 404 logs which SEO plugin captures.

Apparently this 404 page is breaking logs, due to theme, the 404 logs are not getting built as the traffic is leading to an actual page (the set 404 page).

Please read rankmath’s response in my first post on this trail to understand what I am referring to.
