Pagespeed insights score with big change after clearing wp rocket cache

    Hi,

    I got a problem with website speed score related to wp rocket and I opened ticket to wp rocket a few days ago but no reply from them. I post here hoping for some suggestions.

    After many times tests I found that each time page speed insights (PSI) gives high score ( mobile 75 to 85, desktop 90-99) after clearing wp rocket cache but after some time ( it’s not a fixed period of time, sometimes 2 or 3 hours sometimes 4 to 5 hours) the PSI score goes down to very low (mobile 20-30, desktop 70-80). The PSI score can be back to high each time by clearing wp rocket cache then goes down a few hours later.

    I have found a similar issue as mine here https://wordpress.org/support/topic/clear-page-cache-performance/ but with different cache plugin and different theme.

    Many thanks for your quick response!

    I read your performance guide 2022 before. Things that confused me is why after clearing cache I get high score but after a few hours the score will down to very low. Any suggestions for this?

    We don’t know because the cache mechanism is not a part of the theme. You need to consult with WP Rocket developers on this matter.

    Today I changed the woodmart theme to defalut theme twenty twenty-one to identify the problem and checked the performance score immediately after that. I got high score without clearing the server or wp rocket cache. Later I will delete wp rocket and change to the breeze cache plugin to check if it’s the problem still occurs. If yes, the problem either related to theme or server setting.

    I will let you know if any updates.

    I got wp rocket reply and found this problem is related to cloudways varnish setting.
