chiisaiakuma94ParticipantHello WoodMart Support Team,
I need help customizing the image display behavior for my variable products.
The desired behavior is:
When a customer selects a different Color attribute, the main product image must update to the image associated with that color.
When a customer selects a different Size attribute (for the currently chosen color), the product image must NOT change. It should remain the image of the current color.
The reason I need this logic is: I want to avoid uploading and assigning the exact same product image multiple times for variations that only differ in size but share the same color. For example, all sizes (S, M, L) of the “Red” color use the same image, so a size switch should not trigger an image update.
My Questions for Support:
Is there a built-in feature, setting, or recommended code snippet/method in WoodMart/WooCommerce to make the product image only react to the Color attribute, and ignore the Size attribute for image updates?
If the above logic is not easily achievable, is there any faster method to manage and assign variation images in bulk (for example, apply one image to all ‘Red’ size variations at once), other than manually editing each size variation or intervening directly in the database?
Thank you for your guidance!

Aizaz Imtiaz AwanKeymasterHello,
Navigate to Products > Attributes, edit your desired attribute, and enable the “Change product image on attribute click” option.
Edit each attribute term (for example, each color or fabric) and upload an image swatch that visually represents it.
In Theme Settings > Shop > Variable products, enable the “Additional variations images” option. Then, edit your product variations and upload appropriate images for each variation.
Once done, the main product image will automatically change when the customer clicks on the color, fabric, or accessory swatches.

chiisaiakuma94Participant1. Product Variation Images and Required AssignmentMy main point is: Is it mandatory to assign images to every product variation?Example:Currently, I assign all black images only to Size S, and I leave the other sizes blank.$\rightarrow$ This results in the client choosing the Black color:If they choose Size S, all correct black product images are displayed. But if they switch to Size M (and similarly for other sizes), it displays the product image of the parent product, as shown in the attached image.2. Shop Page Widget FilteringWhen setting to display a specific color image swatch for products, the shop page widget filter also displays the image (as shown in the attached image). Is there a way to set the shop page filter widget to display only the label and color swatch (or just the color swatch) instead of the image? (Currently, for some colors, I haven’t changed/deleted the color and switched to displaying a specific color image, so they still display as a label with a color swatch.)”

Aizaz Imtiaz AwanKeymasterHello,
01. No, it’s not mandatory to assign an image to every variation.
It will fall back to the main product image if a variation doesn’t have its own image. In WoodMart, you only need to assign images for the variations that should display a different image (e.g., each color).
For variations that differ only by size (or other non-image attributes), you can leave the image blank, and the main product image for the selected color will remain.
This way, you don’t need to upload the same image multiple times for each size.
02. Sorry to hear about the inconvenience. Kindly, please share your Site WP-ADMIN Login details in the Private Content field so that we can check this concern on your Site and help you out accordingly.
