Regarding the sidebar editing issue:

Hello,

01. Go Dashboard > Sidebars > Add new
Name your custom sidebar and save it
Then Go to Appearance > Widgets and fill your sidebar with any widgets you need.

02. Navigate to Appearance > Widgets > Add or Remove the widgets from the main widget area.
