Unable to upload custom fonts.

I tried to upload custom fonts in theme setting but media library doesn’t allow to do so and shows error as
“Sorry, you are not allowed to upload this file type.”
i tried to add this line to the wp-config.php file: define( ‘ALLOW_UNFILTERED_UPLOADS’, true );
but as soon i save wp-config.php file, my dashboard stops working.
