Updating Basel Theme

    Hi Elise,

    I tried to update our Basel theme, as per your suggestion in the previous email:

    To update our theme you need to download the latest version, rename or delete your current theme folder and Upload it from the admin panel or FTP client (see uploading guide)
    **************************
    However, when I tried to click on the “uploading guide” link, it didn’t work.

    So here is a brief recap:

    We need to update our Basel theme, as there are lots of outdated theme templates.

    So if I go to https://themeforest.net/ and purchase the latest version of the Basel theme from there, I’m assuming it will give me a ZIP file?

    And can I upload that ZIP file here? (see screenshot):

    Needless to say, I need to make sure we’re doing it properly.

    Hello,

    You do not need to purchase theme each time when you need to update. If you have the current version 4.0, try this way:

    Automatic updates with purchase code:
    Licensed Update is the easiest and safe way of an update. You do not need to do anything, WordPress will do the job for you.
    In order to get the option for the automatic update, you need to activate your theme. Navigate to Dashboard -> Basel -> Theme License, insert the purchase code and check agreement for the storing of the purchase code and user data by xtemos.com

    How to find your purchase code:
    Log into your Envato Market account.
    Hover the mouse over your username at the top of the screen.
    Click ‘Downloads’ from the drop-down menu.`
    Click ‘License certificate & purchase code’ (available as PDF or text file).
    As soon as your theme has been activated you will see the notification on update in Dashboard -> Appearance -> Themes. Enter the Basel theme and just press “Update now” on the theme as shown:

    All the theme files will be updated. At the same time, all the theme settings and custom CSS remain.
    In order to get such an option, you need to activate your theme license in Dashboard -> Basel -> Theme Licence.

    When your colleague sends the updated Basel theme archive, please also send a *working* link to the manual update instructions…

    As you pointed out in a previous conversation, we have Basel version 3.4.1 and automatic update is only available starting from version 4.0.

    So in our case, your advice was to update the Basel theme manually as per these recommendations:

    The problem is that when I went to that page, the *uploading* word/link in the “Manual Update” section (below) didn’t work and I wasn’t able to see the instructions:

    Can you please send me a different/working link to the uploading guide, so that I can review the instructions?

    Also, please provide any additional instructions I may need, since I don’t have access to our tech-guy’s Envato Market account and I will not be able to link or sync his account with our website (so if I need to do anything with Envato Market, I will have to create a new account). So it would be greatly appreciated if you could send me instructions on how to update the Basel theme on our website WITHOUT using the Envato Market account.

    Hello,

    Please check mail and confirm the receipt.

    1. Make the full backup of your site. You can use the plugin all in one wp migrate.

    2. Try to update the theme with the plugin Easy Theme and Plugin Upgrades

    If you have problems, send us your site admin access.

    Is the MY ACCOUNT page part of the Basel theme?

    If so, the “Lost your password?” link isn’t working properly (it keeps sending me around in circles).

    Thanks for trying Elise.
    The problem is that if you go to the email they sent you (to reset your password) and click on the link in that email, it will take you right back to the page where you have to enter your email address, so they can send you an email to reset your password. In other words, that link does NOT take you to the page where you can actually reset your password. Instead, it keeps taking you to the page where you have to enter your email address, so they can send you the email with the link. The end result is that you keep going around in circles.
    I really appreciate you trying to help, but since the My Account page is WooCommerce functionality, I will try to contact them.
