I have a store for jewelry and the Shop-page that comes with the theme is excellent but I need more “filtered” versions of it like a display page (a shop page) for jewelry for a specific category and/or attribute

    a) a page for jewelry for men (attribute “men”), one for woman (attribute woman) and so on. On that page I’d like to display all my categories just for that attribute (necklace for men)

    b) a page for a jewelry theme (attribute”stylish”) and several different pages as well for more of my attributes

    c) a page for a category and then visible filters (like category “necklace” with visbile for attribute “to whome” and/or “material)

Note: I have choosen to have men, woman and unisex as attribute and not category.

Note: I am not advance in programming – too many years since I coded 🙂

    Thanks in advance! Jenny

    Hello,

I am bit confused with your aim. Do you want to show filter in the sidebar to filter by criteria or to have separate pages for a page for jewelry for men (attribute “men”) / for woman (attribute woman)?

Note: I have choosen to have men, woman and unisex as attribute and not category.

So, you can add a Filter widget to Shop widget area http://prntscr.com/jk8gte in Appearance > Widgets.

Besides or in addition to you can add Product Categories widget. In the result, you will have shop page with the filter in the sidebar.

If you want to have separate pages, where certain products are displayed by criteria, you can:
1/ Assign to a category and when you go to category link, you will see these products, in the same way you can have all the products on the page of tag http://prntscr.com/jk8i00 You will need to add the same tag, for example, jewelry for men, to all related products.

    Dear Elise,

Thank you for your time and effort giving me an answer!

It’s more to the second part of your answer – separate pages displayed by criteria (not filtered by the visitors choice in widget areas, but mine from start :).

If I understand your answer correctly I can create pages based on criteras of attributes as well as tags. The criteria is that I of course need products that has the tags and attributes?

In that case; How do I create such a page? 🙂

    Here is one example:
Since one item (e.g. a ring) can be an item that suits both woman and men I choose to not create category strukcture like Woman/Ring and Man/Ring.

Instead I created the category Ring and an attribute “To whome”. That enables me to put men and woman as attribute on one product instead of creating the same product twice (needed if I had Woman and Man as categories).

    So in my case I’d like that from the top menu bar be able to call on a page that shows;
    a) one page that shows all jewelry for woman (the attribute “To whome”=woman)
    b) one page for rings for woman (category= Ring + attribute “To whome”=woman)
    c) one page for necklaces for men (category= Necklace + attribute “To whome”=men)
    d) one page for a tag (tag=romantic)
    etc…..

The visitor shall not need to filter by widgets, instead I need the page filled with the right content from start.

Hope I made more sense now in my description 🙂

    Many many thanks in advance!

    Hello,

In that case; How do I create such a page?

Each category and tag has its own URL. So when you assign a category or add a tag, you will have these pages ready. Navigate to Products > Categories and view. The same for tags

At the same, time attributes do not have their URL and you cannot view products by attribute. An Attribute is used to show a product features, for example, material, size, brand and so on.

In your case, you need to determine how to arrange all your products. You can create categories: “rings”, “earrings”, “bracelets” and you will get the page with rings both for men and for women.

As soon as you have categories you can add tags: “for men”, “for women”. In this case, you will get the page where all products rings, bracelets for men would be displayed.

Also, you can create and put two tags in one product: “for women” and “ring”. Then you can create a separate page (Dashboard > Page > Add new) and show the product grid by tags, for example, “rings” and “for men” In this case you have the option to combine your criteria.

    Hi again,

Thanks for sorting the different things out for me! I now know the difference btw attribute and tags. I made it wrong for all my products :).

I tried to do a new page as you described in your answer. But I didn’t find how to make the grid out of tags. 🙂
I found the grid for categories that displayed a summary. See the file attached.

    >> How do I create the new page with the products visible for “tags” as you described? (multi-tags)

Again – many thanks in advance!

    Hello,

    Here are the screens:

1/ Add the element to the page http://prntscr.com/jkzarg

    2/ Insert tags http://prntscr.com/jkzbmp

3/ Look through the other options and tabs, to configure your grind in design, number of products in a column and so on.

Thank you – very helpful for me!

Since I am a novice on the Front end editor – Do you have any tips on where I can find some documentation och video instructions on the different elements that are available?

    Thanks!

    Thank you!

I need your final advise before I start re-structuring all my products and starts to build the pages of my site.

I am a bit worried that lack of skills makes me do a lot of more job that the system might provide me with if I just makes the right set-up.

    1. I put all my jewelry in Categories (necklace, ring, bracelet) then I get a page automatic for that category showing all products/category

    2. Since I need all jewelry to be displayed more filtered (as discussed above): I add subcategories for different types of products (Bracelet/Steelbracelet, Necklace/goldnecklace). That also gives me a page per subcategory automatic.

    3. But since I need to display my products based on target group (man, woman, child) I add tags. I then get a page automatic per tag.

FINALLY MY Q: If my site always need to present products based on 1-3 above. E.g. In the top menu bar I want Woman and a mega-menu that displays all products for women per category or subcategory then I need to create product pages myself for all these variants?

Do I have my product structure correct as you can see it from the system point of view?

If you say Yes to the above – what is the smartest way for me to create my own product page with filter, the grid and the features that comes with the automatic pages?

Many thanks for a great support!

    Hello,

You can create a page and show products from several categories or from several tags. For this purpose, you will need to use Product Grid.

The filter will work only on the category page or tag page. They will not work on your created page.

Here is the instruction how to create the mega menu: https://xtemos.com/docs/woodmart/create-menu-2/

Mega menu blocks are created in HTML blocks, here is the instructions: https://xtemos.com/docs/woodmart/html-blocks-2/

You would better to upload demo data and edit existing menus and HTML blocks as it would quite difficult for your to figure out how to do this or that. There is nothing difficult but you will require time to understand.

    Thank you!

I have now reorganized all but there is still a problem using several tags/categories as you suggested for the product grid.

If I combine the category Rings (I have 2 of them) with a tag unisex the result is not Unisex rings, but all three. There is no “AND” between them, instead bracelets with the tag Unisex are shown as well.

Se my 2 prt scr attached.

How do I put an “AND” between them so I can get a filter of a combination of tags?

    Kind regards,
    Jenny

    Hello,

You cannot insert category AND tag.

Categories or tags – option to display products from one or more categories or from one or more tags. You can choose to display products either by category/categories or by tag/tags but not both. At the same time, you can set category and featured products. In this case, the featured product from the selected category will be shown.

You can create and put two tags in one product: “for women” and “ring”. Then you can create a separate page (Dashboard > Page > Add new) and show the product grid by tags, for example, “rings” and “for men” In this case you have the option to combine your criteria.

    Hi,

Thank you for a quick answer.

The problem combining the tags as you proposed “rings” and “for men” is that all products that has either the tag “ring” and/or either the tag “for men” are shown.

Meaning that all products for the tag “rings” and all products “for men” are shown in the grid.

In my case that will be bracelets and other stuff as well as the tag “rings” are used för jewelry for woman as well.

What I would like to have is an AND statement btw the tags. Like a SQL-statement that only those products that has BOTH “rings” and “for men” are shown. Products “for men” that doesn’t have the tag “rings” will then not be shown.

Are there any thoughts of that kind of development in your theme?

    Kind regards,
    Jenny

    Hello,

If you want your page to show only rings for women by tag, you can create one tag “rings for women” and display products by this tag. In this case, rings for men would be shown as they would not have such a tag.

    Hi,

I have done that but it requires a lot of tags 🙂

    Best regards,
    Jenny

    #63035

    Hello,

The number of tags will depend on your product range and our theme cannot influence that.
