You need to set a sales price and set the date this sales price expires on the product page, then you add a countdown and it shows the remaining time to the end of the sale.

Please click on the “schedule” that is shown on your screenshot. Try to enable the “Countdown for variable products” option https://ibb.co/4YdDzw4. The sale end date will be based on the first variation date of the product.
