Stock status

Hi
I wonder if its possible to show correct stock Status on the overview page, when you have chosen a category and get presented with the grid of products, I would like to show the “IN stock” or “available on backorder” etc . as it is now, I have to click the product and then see the stock status. If its sold out (not available on backorder) I get the circle saying sold out on top of the product, thats good.
is this possible without any extra plugins?

But that is not showing on the main grid? and I do just want to show the customer “in stock” or “backorder” not actual stock values, is this not possible?
