justin.mannParticipantSince changing to Woodmart theme my site has become incredibly slow to load.
I have already heavily optimised all of my images to save as much space as possible
I have had this confirmed by my host company, they suggested a number of apps to help but these make no difference (WPRocket and so on)
Quote below from my host company:
“I’ve had a look at the site and I see what you mean, it is really slow. What I’m seeing on the server is every page load is maxing out the CPU core so it’s having to do a lot of work to the generate the page. Your VPS has 4 cores so if you had 4 concurrent page loads (4 visitors on your site at once) it would max out your whole server.”
Can you please have a look and see if there is any obvious reason for this and suggest any possible solutions?
Many thanks,

justin.mannParticipantUpdate, whilst testing I ran a Lighthouse Analysis. With Woodmart installed I am getting a 76% rating. When I change this to another theme it jumps to 91%.
January 16, 2026 at 10:17 am #704659Hello,
Thank you for choosing our theme. Our theme is optimized for speed and should not significantly slow down your website. However, it’s possible that your website’s performance is affected by the content you have added. For instance, the use of too many plugins, large unoptimized images, or other resources can slow down your website.
We recommend that you remove any unnecessary plugins and install a JS & CSS optimization plugin such as WP Rocket. Our guide on how to optimize your website using our themes can be found here: https://xtemos.com/wordpress-performance-optimization-the-ultimate-guide-in-2021/.
If you have any further questions, please don’t hesitate to reach out.
Kind regards,

justin.mannParticipantHi there,
I’ve disabled all plug ins and run tests each time, results vary wildly but deactivating plugins made very little difference.
I’ve added admin access, details below, would you mind taking a quick look for anything obvious that could be causing the issues please?
As mentioned, when i change the theme the performance levels improves dramatically so I assume it could be a plugin conflicting but my tests thus far don’t prove that.
Thanks,
JustinJanuary 19, 2026 at 9:59 am #704974Hello,
Could you please provide us with instructions on how to measure this CPU load? We need to test it ourselves, both with WoodMart and the default theme, to see the difference.
Kind Regards

justin.mannParticipantHi,
I am using Lighthouse via the Inspect feature in Google Chrome.
Thanks,
JustinJanuary 20, 2026 at 10:11 am #705204Hello,
Using the Lighthouse, you can’t measure the CPU load. As you mentioned, our theme affects the CPU we need to monitor it in real time and compare it with the default theme.
Kind Regards

justin.mannParticipantHi there,
Â
The only way I can show CPU usage is through my CPanel which I am unable to grant access. I just checked and can see the high usage, I will video this screen with comments and change the theme and run tests again if this is ok?
Â
Thanks,
JustinJanuary 20, 2026 at 5:16 pm #705333Hello,
The video could be helpful, but we still can’t troubleshoot the issue without the ability to monitor it in real time. Perhaps you could create a staging website to which we can get the access.
Kind Regards

justin.mannParticipantHi,
I have moved the website to a different CPanel login so can now provide login details if required? I will post below in Extra in shortly.
I have just read about an issue with the single product navigation widget causing this same issue, not sure if this is a known issue?
Someone contacted me via Facebook and told me Woodmart is a great theme but has to be very well optimised to run properly….of course they wanted to do it for me at a cost!
Thanks,
JustinJanuary 23, 2026 at 3:26 pm #705817Hello,
Thank you for creating a staging website. It has server authentication protection, so we need this username and password as well.
Kind Regards
January 23, 2026 at 3:28 pm #705818
justin.mannParticipantApologies , details below.
January 23, 2026 at 3:30 pm #705820Thank you. Now I’m trying to enter your WordPress dasbhoard but the password is wrong.
Also, we need your cPanel access where we can see the CPU load.January 23, 2026 at 3:34 pm #705822
justin.mannParticipantWe use terminal/top to view cpu usage (press c to check route)
I have removed the password protection.
January 23, 2026 at 4:08 pm #705833Sorry, but the admin password is still wrong. Also, we don’t have access to your server via terminal to run the top command.
January 23, 2026 at 4:28 pm #705834
justin.mannParticipantDo you mean the cpanel password? Site should not be password protected now.
Confirmation of both passwords below.
Are you able to run Terminal?
January 23, 2026 at 6:30 pm #705856Please send us a step by step instructions on how to monitor your CPU load in real time. If we can do this via terminal, we need to somehow access it. If it is inside the cPanel, we need the cPanel URL, username and password.
Yes, we can see your website now, but the password you provided (to WordPress dashboard) is wrong and we can’t do anything.
January 23, 2026 at 7:19 pm #705859
justin.mannParticipantAre you logging into the new CPanel? details below, tested.
You should be able to search in CPanel and see Terminal, once that is opened just enter TOP and hit return. If you press C once in there it gives a detailed CPU usage report.
Thanks,
JustinJanuary 23, 2026 at 7:35 pm #705860
justin.mannParticipantApologies if this is me not understanding.
Admin details for WP below confirmation
January 24, 2026 at 10:24 am #705905Hello,
Thank you for providing access. However, I’ve noticed that your server is struggling to handle even a small number of visitors. This is likely due to the numerous plugins you’ve installed, which require additional computational resources. While cache plugins could potentially help in such situations, they don’t appear to be functioning properly on your website. Even switching to the default theme doesn’t seem to resolve the issue.
In light of this, I recommend that you either optimize your website as outlined in our article or consider upgrading to a more powerful server.
Kind regards,
January 24, 2026 at 6:09 pm #705938
justin.mannParticipantHi there,
You will notice that pretty much all of the plugins are deactivated. Are you suggesting that even though they are deactivated they could be causing issues? The only plug ins enabled were suggested as trusted by the hosting company.
Thanks,
JustinJanuary 27, 2026 at 10:02 am #706194Hello,
We can’t answer this exactly. We recommend that you test it without plugins at all and check all the steps from the article in our documentation.
Kind Regards
