We’re thrilled to announce the release of WoodMart 8.2, a significant update packed with exciting four new demos, powerful features, and a host of enhancements designed to elevate your e-commerce experience and creative freedom. This version brings more flexibility, improved user experience, and even better performance to your WoodMart-powered website. In addition, various bug fixes and performance improvements provide a smoother experience.

Blog, Portfolio, Single Post, and Single Project layouts

We’ve significantly increased your design capabilities with new layout options for crucial parts of your site. The content of Blog Post pages, Projects, and their archive pages can now be fully customized using the selected page builder plugin, which was previously available only for shop functionality. This will allow for more flexibility in content display, resulting in more distinctive and captivating layouts. You can find the layout settings on the ‘Layouts’ page under the tabs named ‘Single Post’ and ‘Posts Archive’.

Important note: Since this update introduces the ability to fully edit the post archive and single blog post pages using page builder plugins, we had to make changes to their structure. The new structure separates each blog element into an individual “module”, making each one more independent and allowing full control over their arrangement and settings within any supported page builder. The downside of this improvement is that it required partial changes to the HTML structure and CSS classes of the blog elements. As a result, some customizations related to the blog or portfolio sections may no longer work as expected and will need to be reviewed and adjusted during the process of updating to the new theme version.

Thank you page layout

The Thank You page is displayed after the checkout process is completed and contains information about the successfully placed order. Previously, its content could only be partially modified through specific options in the theme settings. Now, this page can be fully customized using any of the supported page builder plugins, just like the Cart and Checkout pages. To add a layout, go to the ‘Checkout’ tab and select ‘Thank You Page’ from the ‘Layout type’ dropdown.

Custom tabs

In previous versions of WoodMart, users only had access to 3 “Additional tabs” for single product pages, which were configured through the theme settings. Now, after enabling the corresponding option, a new product tabs post type becomes available. It allows you to create an unlimited number of custom tabs and flexibly assign them to various products or product types using a set of dedicated conditions.

Since the new tab option fully covers all needs for additional tabs and extends their functionality with new display conditions, the old “Additional Tabs” have been renamed to “Legacy Tabs” and marked as deprecated. Despite this, the option will continue to function as before and can still be used alongside the new post-type tabs if necessary.

Enhanced search capabilities

Search History: Header Builder search elements now support a “Search history” option, allowing users to quickly access their recent searches.
Enhanced Category & Content Search: “Include categories in search” option in the Header Builder Search element. Theme Settings now include options for “Search by product categories,” “Search by product tag,” “Search by product attributes,” and “Search by product brands.”
Synonyms for Search: Improve search accuracy and user experience by defining synonyms for search terms in Theme Settings. Users will find what they’re looking for even if they use slightly different terminology.
Search Results Styling: Added “Background overlay” for Search Form Results in the Header Builder Search element for better visual clarity.
AJAX Results in new tab: Added the ability to open AJAX search results in a new tab using the mouse middle-click or the browser’s context menu option “Open link in new tab”.

Additionally, regarding the search functionality, the appearance of the ‘Popular Requests’ elements has been updated to better align with the new design, following the recent feature expansion. Another important change is that search settings for desktop and mobile are now independent. For example, you can enable AJAX search results on desktop while keeping them disabled for the search element in the mobile header. Similar improvements also apply to other options, including ‘Search History’ and ‘Popular Requests’.

Important note: In this update, we’ve added many new options for both the search form and the AJAX search results, which required significant changes to their structure. The main reason for these changes is the introduction of features like search history, product categories in search results, the popular queries option (now available in the new search layouts), and the ability to open AJAX search results in a new window. These additions forced us to rethink how content is rendered in the search dropdown and fullscreen search window, making the system more flexible and universal — capable of handling any combination of enabled or disabled form and result options.

However, as a necessary downside, we had to partially change the HTML structure and CSS classes of the search elements. Because of this, certain customizations related to the search may stop working and will need to be reviewed and updated during the transition to the new theme version. If your custom code includes elements with the class autocomplete-suggestion, please review the updated search structure and adjust your custom code accordingly to reflect the new changes.

Interactive guided tour functionality

A new feature is now available on the main page of the WoodMart dashboard — step-by-step interactive onboarding guides. These guides introduce users to the basic principles of website customization using the built-in WoodMart theme options, including changing the logo in the header, adjusting base colors, fonts, and navigation, as well as editing site content with the selected page builder.

Post Archive and Single Post Changes

In this update, we also performed an additional revision of the Blog Archive and Single Post option sets to standardize their structure and make blog settings more logical and user-friendly. The following changes have been made:

Before version 8.2, enabling the Masonry Grid layout would automatically disable the sidebar on the post archive page. This behavior caused confusion for users when configuring sidebars and disrupted the expected logic of sidebar options available in Theme Settings or on individual pages via metaboxes. Starting with this update, enabling the Masonry Grid layout no longer affects the sidebar. Whether the sidebar is displayed now depends solely on its own display options. As a result, in some cases, users may notice that a sidebar appears on the post archive page after updating if it was previously hidden due to the layout. If needed, the sidebar can be disabled via Theme Settings → Blog → Blog Archive → Sidebar position.

Additionally, the Masonry Grid and Mask on Image blog designs no longer have the masonry functionality enabled by default. It can now be enabled manually via a separate toggle located next to the design selection option. These changes were introduced because most users who like the appearance of these designs do not necessarily need the masonry grid behavior, which requires additional scripts to function and may negatively affect site performance. Now, masonry can be enabled only when it’s truly needed. As part of these adjustments, the Masonry Grid design has also been renamed to simply Grid.

The latest changes affect how sidebars work between Post Archive and Single Post pages. Previously, the sidebar on single posts depended on whether the sidebar was enabled for the post archive. This made it difficult to create layouts where a sidebar was needed on one page but not the other. With this update, the Single Post page now has its own dedicated sidebar settings in Theme Settings, fully independent from the post archive. This allows users to configure sidebar visibility for single posts separately from the main blog page.

New Elements & Widget

“Toggle” element: Support has now been added for both Elementor and WPBakery page builders, in addition to Gutenberg, enabling a sleek way to display collapsible content sections..

“Category Filter” widget: Enhance navigation and product discovery with this new widget, allowing users to easily filter content or products by category.

Site elements: Breadcrumbs and Page Heading elements have been added to the “Site” category for easier access and consistent site structure.
