My isssue: The shopping cart widget does not display anything

After adding a product to the cart and hovering over the go-to-cart icon, the shopping cart widget shows nothing and remains completely blank. The hidden sidebar, if enabled in the settings, is empty as well.

I’ve seen many others report this issue as well, often followed by the response that it is an Elementor issue. However, my website only uses Woodmart (child theme), WP Bakery, and Woocommerce.

I’ve ruled out every plugin; I disabled all plugins except Woocommerce and Redux Framework, and the issue persists.

Activating the parent Woodmart theme also didn’t help, so child theme interference is excluded.

I would appreciate your assistance in resolving this issue.

    Regards,

    Hello,

Could you please check how it works with the WooCommerce Storefront theme to understand if is it our theme issue or not?

    Regards

I’ve set Storefront as the main theme and the shopping cart widget displays again. See the screenshot attached. The issue seems to be related to Woodmart.

    Hello,

Please, disable all plugins that are not related to our theme and provide us with your admin access. We will log in and check what is wrong there. You can leave only the following plugins that are required for our theme:
    WoodMart core
    WooCommerce
    Elementor/WPBakery page builder

    Thank you in advance

As we can see, you have a very old version of the theme which doesn’t work as expected. You need to update it to the latest version first.
Note that some changes you made in the child theme may not be compatible with the latest version of the theme. That is why you need to keep the child theme disabled while updating the theme.

    Kind Regards

It is essential that you read carefully the information I have already provided to you so we can move closer to resolving this issue.

“As we can see, you have a very old version of the theme which doesn’t work as expected. You need to update it to the latest version first.”
In the Private Content of this thread, it was mentioned that the new/latest version of the theme was present in the theme files; you only needed to activate it to see the website running on the latest theme version.

“Note that some changes you made in the child theme may not be compatible with the latest version of the theme. That is why you need to keep the child theme disabled while updating the theme.”
The child theme was deactivated on the staging URL I shared with you. You just had to activate the new/latest Woodmart theme version under Appearance > Themes in the dashboard to see the latest Woodmart theme version running on the website without any child theme involvement.

I hope this has cleared up any misunderstandings. Using the latest Woodmart theme version and disabling the child theme does not display the Shopping cart widget. You can see for yourself by viewing the URL in the private contents.

After adding a product to the cart and hovering over the go-to-cart icon, the shopping cart widget shows nothing. The hidden sidebar, if enabled in the settings, is not showing as well.

    Hello,

We don’t see the newest version of the theme on your staging website. Please, install and activate it first. Then go to WoodMart -> Plugins and update all the required plugins.

    Kind Regards

I’m not sure how new you want it, but the current active theme is version 7.2.5. I will download and install the theme update that came out during our conversation shortly.

The issue appeared to be resolved by updating the Woodmart theme to the latest version.
Woodmart was therefore the cause of the issue – heads up to others who are experiencing the same problem.

My question now: Since I need to be working with the latest version of Woodmart to have a properly working site. Using a child theme allowed me to make some customizations without having them overwritten with a Woodmart update. But now, since Woodmart stopped properly working, how do I keep the theme updated to avoid compatibility issues but also not lose my customizations after an update? How would you recommend we proceed?

Since child themes allow you to customize any part of the theme, we are not responsible for any changes you make there. Our support service doesn’t include fixing any issues related to the child theme. Your customizations may not be compatible with newer versions of the parent theme, so they may require further maintenance from your side.
