Localhost install: homepage not showing images

Hi, thanks for the great theme. I’ve installed everything on localhost. I’m using the basic demo version theme (the one with the furniture).
However, the images of the homepage in the AJAX product tab (Featured Products) and in the element Our latest news are not showing up. I checked some settings in Theme settings -> Product Archive but none seem to work. Does this have anything to do with Ajax vs Localhost? Will the images display as soon as I’ll use the theme on my live website?

For mods seeing the ticket: I found the solution. I had to adjust the php.ini file from XAMPP.
Maybe for other users with the same problem?

Open xampp control panel.
Start apache and mysql.
Click on config option of apache.
Click on php.ini and open it.
Press Ctrl+F and search “extension=” or “extension=fileinfo”.
On the next line to “extension=fileinfo”, add “extension=gd”.
Save the file.
Stop apache and restart it.
