How To Disable The Sub-Categories From Being Displayed Under The Main Category

Can you tell “How To Disable The Sub-Categories From Being Displayed Under The Main Category” on the front page.

Eg. :
Main category is – Shirt
And Sub-categories to it are – Full sleeves , Half sleevess , etc
Then If I don’t want to show all the sub-categories of “Shirt” on product page ; just “Shirt” should be displayed , then how can I do that.
